About The Swan dates the 1700's, originally three thatched cottages with the first licensee in the mid 1700's, being a lady inn keeper. Boasting three ghosts, Mable a 1900's landlady, Alfred the tooth-pulling 1700's inn keeper, and young George at around the 1700's, probably Alfred's son. The bar, restaurant offers all the charm of a traditional Kentish inn. cascading floral displays all year round and inside the contemporary decorations meld with old world charm, giving a sense of quaint ambiance and original charm. Two main non-smoking dining areas, one traditional, the other 'cellar restaurant' offering contemporary decor with high back leather chairs and its own commissioned art gallery. the bar area gives way to leather couches and open fire places where candle light bathes the slate and black slate wall. The swan has also featured in the Guardian newspapers top 150 gastro pubs, the Telegraph diners club, Alistair Sawdays 'special places to visit', the BBC and Waitrose food and drink magazine and the AA good pub guide, where you can see us on the front cover. |
